The princess

The princess

A Chapter by EZV

Meryl moved her hair out of her face and into a ponytail. Meryl was getting ready to school, and she was late. Slipping on her black military boots, grabbing her keys and slamming the door behind her, she hopped on her bike and sprinted to school. Great, she thought If I am late again, they will call my parents. Mortified by this thought, Meryl pushed herself further. her phone started to ring, and she quickly looked at it. Sorry Emmy, not now. Emmy or Barbara Emmy Johnson as she was actually called was Meryl's best friend. They had been friends since first grade, accidentally running directly into each other at the playground. Since then they had been indescribable. That’s why Meryl hadn't told Emmy about her secret, she was a princess. Her parents had sent her to the city when she was five, so she could go to school, and learn of the world outside the castle. Until she was sent to the city she had never been outside the castle grounds, never seen someone who wasn’t royal or worked for her parents.
Meryl hadn't told Emmy her secret because she was afraid, that she would abandon her. Arriving to school she heard a voice ring out.
“Meryl, hurry up.” It was Emmy, who was running towards her, her long blonde hair waving behind her as she ran. Meryl jumped off her bike and ran towards Emmy. As she came closer she could she Emmy clearly. Emmy was wearing a green dress, that went down to her bare legs. The dress’ skirt was covered in flowers and the top was covered in laces. She was wearing dark green flats, and her hair, with a pink stripe, was in a ponytail.
“Come on. We can still make it” she said and grabbed my hand. As soon as she did, an electric shock went up her arm and into her chest, making her blush. Emmy didn't notice and pulled her toward the school. The clock started to ring.
“Damn” Emmy swore, and ran faster, her hand still in mine. We ran until we came to the classroom, where our teacher was. He was standing outside the door, on his way to lock it.
“Wait” I yelled, and the teacher looked up. His face started to smile.
“Come on in girls, you made it” Emmy and I exchanged relieved smiles and she let go off my hand to find her seat. As she walked away, I (and all the boys) noticed her skirt had slipped up so you could she a the bottom part of underwear. I blushed and quickly looked away.
“Miss Meryl, I you would please sit down, some we can start the lesson” My english teacher, Mr.Evans, said with a smile. I jumped forgetting he was there and quickly found my seat, face still red. As Mr.Evans started to talk about Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, I started to space. My eyes caught Emmy’s she smiled. And I blushed, again. Really, what was the matter with me? Why can’t I look at my best friend without blushing. Most people would say that I love her, but I don’t! I mean of course I loved her but only as a friend, right?
