Hey, Little Spider

Hey, Little Spider

A Poem by Emiko Tagahushi
"

This was a poem I wrote for my Creative Writing class. I was trying to figure out what to write when I saw a spider out the window. :) It's just a fun poem.

"

Hey little spider

Climbing on the screen

Why do you try so hard?

To create a beautiful web so clean

It is fifty degrees outside spider

I think it’s time to hide

Before the snow falls

And covers your poor little body alive

Stop crawling on the window spider

Take a little break

You must be cold out there

From the wind blowing on your nape

I’d let you in, little spider

Struggling to climb

But I’m deathly afraid

Of your very kind

Don’t be offended spider

I mean no harm

Although I worry about your condition

I still prefer you to be out of reach of my arm

I bid you farewell, spider

And the best of luck

Hurry and scurry away

Because winter is going to suck.

From the wind blowing on your nape--this is a great line! Living in Florida I miss the snow so much.

This is a great and cute piece. The rhyming and flow was great. I also liked the empathy for the spider despite the fact that you don't like, and fear them.

Thanks for the read

very creative sonnet and your rhyme is on point. Engaged my imagination immediately and had me visualize the setting clearly. Nice work

Oh that was cute! I'm not fond of spiders either, but they kind of fascinate me at the same time. This spring I even tolerated a rather big one on my balcony - named him Freddy (Krueger). So I can totally relate to the ambivalence expressed in this lovely little piece :-D

Yeah, I had fun writing this poem. :D Although, if a spider is in my house, I can't take it. Haha. .. read more
