Poem JuiceA Poem by Emiko TagahushiThis was a poem for my Creative Writing class. Since we had to write so many poems for class and I struggle with them, I wrote a poem about struggling to write a poem. Please enjoy! :DI’m running out of poem juice. It’s literally leaking out of my brain. I can’t stop it from escaping So I sit here, completely drained. I need to refuel. Maybe a cookie or two will do. But mostly I need that colorful juice Full of creative thoughts just waiting to - Come into this soil earth And bloom into plants So beautiful and passionate. But I sit here passively because I can’t Come up with a poem. Oh gosh, I’m so thirsty and dry Like I’m wandering in the desert So, so drained I can’t even cry. Someone, save me! Although there’s that thing called writer’s block At least I can still think and enjoy my stories with
lei - siure.
Narrative poems will become too long While other poems are like creating a beautiful song By whipping it out of thin air. Honestly, the burden is too much too bear. Poems torture me so Like trying to tie the most perfect bow. Free verse poems poke holes in my brain While metered poems are just a pain. Too picky or not picky enough It’s like driving on a road way too rough. When poems just come I don’t know where it’s from, But when I try to force a poem out, It’s like trying to smile with a pout.
Impossible, I tell you! Impossible, yes - this is true. So, poems, come and suck all of me empty Before there is nothing left So all of my passion and hate is laid out on the
page. Let it sit there in silence Speaking so much In whispers In little voices in your head. © 2015 Emiko TagahushiAuthor's Note
