Hope Lies Here

The smouldering remains

Of hope lie here

Its tattered sigh interwines

With the black smoke

 

Grey ashes floating

On the wind

Fluttering to the ground

Defeated and lost

 

The smell of dust

Mingles with the scent of death

The two fill the air

And block out the light

 

Death and darkness dance

In some hellish reunion

Drifting over the lost souls

Who cry out in pain

This is about 9/11 and all the death that that day brought. Kind of morbid, I know...

This one brings me right back to that moment; my knees buckled at the news and I wonder, could it also be representive of our own hopes, we who were left behind our own hopes now, "Grey ashes floating On the wind Fluttering to the ground Defeated and lost" While this may be morbid it is so thought provoking.
