Don't Remember MeA Story by EmaleighLynnWritten for a contest. There he stood. But not how I had expected. It wasn’t just the green tinge of his skin, or how long his hair had grown. Neither of these things startled me as much as the murderous expression on his face and the blade held in his hands. “Fray...” I said, holding up my hands in what I hoped was a calm, nonthreatening day. “It’s me, Laura. Remember me?” He sneered, and Bethan grabbed my arm. “L, we have to go!” “No!” I shook her hand off. “He’ll remember me, he has to!” I took a step towards him. “L!” Bethan screamed. “He can’t remember you; he’s not real! He’s a robot, L!” I whirled around to look at her, look at her dark face streaked with tears. “And robots can’t have feelings?” “They don’t! They freaking don’t, L, that’s just how they are! They don’t have feelings, or memories, or anything human at all!” I stared at her for a minute, and Bethan wasted no time grabbing my arm again and pulling me away. This time I let her. I let her take me away. I only looked back once. When I looked back, I saw his face had not changed. Not at all. © 2015 EmaleighLynn |
