Sonnet

Sonnet

A Poem by EmaleighLynn
"

A sonnet I wrote for English class last year.

"

Poison cuts me like a blade, tainted knife.

This attraction only causes us pain.

Oh, my dear, what can you possibly gain

From creating for me an endless night?

Your love takes away my breath, my life,

As I sit alone and cry in the rain.

I know I have only myself to blame,

Who but me could cause this, the greatest strife?

You make me want to leave, give it all up.

How I can get out, I cannot see.

Your eyes shimmer, a flash of meanest gold.

You feed me lies, poison in my cup,

Why, oh why, do you want to destroy me?

The end is drawing near, I feel the cold.

There are those we are drawn to no matter what our instincts warn. Well done.
