I wish to see

My guy-to-be

So I won't die missing him.

So we can disappear

Into the meaning of eternal love.

We'd dance high above the clouds

Where no one could reach us.

It is where we belong.

Thinking of a love yet to find. This is a common subject amongst young female authors, and it pleases me to read these poems. Quite frankly, I'm sick of being alone, and it's refreshing to know there are people out there who want a proper relationship, not "Mr. Right Now".

Most poems of this kind tend to hold the 'guy-to-be' in extremely high regard, without acknowledging inherently human traits. It's not that there is anything wrong with that, but for me it makes these poems about a theoretical man I or no other man could ever be, and that gives me mixed feelings about them.
