How I wish he was mine.
I crave to have his heart
And keep it beside mine forever.
If only he was sure
But he's not.
I adore him and he knows.

This is short, clear, and uses good grammar.
In these few words lie a world of emotional confusion I see so often in young people. Largely due to compromises in what builds great romance. Like confusing adoration with amistad.
