The Image and Prey

The Image and Prey

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

This mirror

What in it do I see?

Me and only me

I see my face

Followed by a sudden shadow.

My eyes narrow into a glare

As my face expression turns aggressive.

The mirror is the enemy, the predator

I am the prey

I cannot bring myself

To stare, more or less look

At myself.

But why?

What is it that I am so afraid of?

I don't understand

Looking at myself

I am angry and ashamed

But I haven't the slightest clue as to why.

You should be on the stage....
This is great stuff...so dramatic.

I love how in this poem, and other's of yours, you describe just a moment in time and not a necessarily a whole event, yet you can turn a moment into a story. I also like your titles very much :)
