The Image and PreyA Poem by I Am SvetlanaThis mirror What in it do I see? Me and only me I see my face Followed by a sudden shadow. My eyes narrow into a glare As my face expression turns aggressive. The mirror is the enemy, the predator I am the prey I cannot bring myself To stare, more or less look At myself. But why? What is it that I am so afraid of? I don't understand Looking at myself I am angry and ashamed But I haven't the slightest clue as to why. © 2009 I Am Svetlana |
