College, it’s much different from high school. It makes you feel more “on your own” without parents around and having more freedom by yourself. College challenges you to make people believe that you can make it on your own in this life. Going off to college gives you the chance to prove to your friends and family that you are able to support yourself and pass college courses without their constant assistance. I hope college will help me advance in studying by myself and making me push myself to bigger limits beyond than what the professors expect.
Over the years, I have had multiple life experiences that have changed my perspective on how people live. A major life experience that has changed me was when my brother moved out of our house and into his own apartment so he could start college. This made me realize that there is always a time when we have to grow up and soon fend for ourselves. Our parents are not always going to be there to save us in the times we face a difficult situation or decision. We all come to a point in life where we have to make our own decisions and hoping they will help us along the way to our future.
Since I was young and to where I am now, I have developed many talents that will shape my future. I have been writing since I was eight years old, starting with my stories about my stuffed animals’ adventures to my perspective-changing poetry that I write today. I someday hope to become a experienced and published writer-poet and have people see the world from my point of view. I also love animals and watched Animal Planet all the time when I was little. I had a huge admiration for Steve Irwin and the many things he did to help wild animals and to bring them into captivity. I developed a dream to become a veterinarian to help out injured animals and keep them safe from further harm. That dream slowly passed as I wanted to become an animal psychologist and learned that I could research the behavior of the animal mind and learn how it worked differently from humans. If we know what animals think, we can then control their behavior and actions that are made from their choices.
College is going to be a very different experience for me compared to high school. I’m not going to be so close to home and seeing my family as often as I used to. This will help me become a stronger and more independent individual as I face the new life and challenges of college. I have a very outgoing personality and am determined to always give it my all and never back down when things get tough. I will stand up and face the struggles when they approach me on my path to success, determined to win in the end without falling down. I will bring confidence to myself and others around me as I push them and myself to do the best that we are all capable of. The best of what we believe and what others cannot expect.
In the end, college will make us stronger against our weaknesses. It will push us to achieve more than we think we can and pull us to the top. The life of college will challenge us physically and mentally with studying and expecting us to know the dates that certain assignments are due. This is the time that we need to look out for ourselves as we prepare our futures and determined to never back down when things get hard.
