Can't Dream

I think on and off throughout the day

Many thoughts cross my mind

Death, love, peace.

Not much else dares cross my wave of line of thought.

I fall asleep soon after, hoping for a dream to appear.

Nothing.

I open my eyes for a few seconds.

Closing them again, I stiffly lay there.

Shifting or moving even a single limb might freighten the dream.

Not moving, i still see no dream.

I am frustrated.

Why can't I dream?

I dreamt last night, the night and week before also!

I lay awake the rest of the night

There's no point in laying still and hoping for a dream that you know will never arrive to you, but would arrive to another someone.

A someone other than me.

I really enjoyed reading this, although I'm on the exact opposite end of this spectrum and have multiple dreams every single night :P ...but I agree with the reviewer before me, you are a very deep thinker. Great write!

I've learned that lying still won't make a dream come to you. As cliche as it may sound, I think if our dreams don't come to us, then we need to go to them, and never give up hope. I really like the symbolism of the verse. You have potential to be a great poet. I sense the soul in your pieces as I glanced over a few and decided to review this one since no one else has had the pleasure of doing.

You are a deep thinker, contrary to what you express in your piece, perhaps that is intentional...? Your incorporation of the senses is exceptional. Highly enjoyable piece that works on several levels :-) You are but 17, yet your poems display exceptional maturity.
