This Is What I Am

 For those who know me

I am not just that girl with acne and glasses. 

Me, I am considered one of the guys

An outgoing shortie with attitude.

Russia is my lost home

But I'm stuck here in Madison

I wish to break out of my shell

Just wanting to get noticed by the unknown

My friends and family expect the best for my future

They think my writing talent will take me places

I am that single slip of light that shines dimly through your window as you sleep.

My eyes reflect the moonlight and my blonde hair is reflected off of your window.

You see me as an angel

While others see me as their worst nightmare.

To you, what am I?

This is what I am

And there's nothing you can change to make me any better than you taste.

I am whatever I choose to be.

I kept hopping around your works, trying to find one that didn't have people reviewing it in more than the "I liked it" capacity, and I finally found this one. I like the haunting way that each line slides in right after the next, and I really like the confidence the poem exudes. This is me, you say, take it or leave it.

If I had to criticize it, and as my name implies, I do, I would say that the second-last line doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm not sure what exactly it means (the word 'taste' in particular throws me off), and it's just one dark spot in an otherwise well written and powerful poem.
