We're Better Off

For every long moment...

moments after we ended things,

I feel like I'm sinking

back into the dampened soil.

Slept a handful of hours.

Struggling to rise each morning

with a purpose.

There will come a day

where our hearts will live on.

Even with scars 

that run deep, I

am working on myself

while watching our favorite

tv episode on repeat.

Stumbling home in the dark,

I crave so much to feel alive!

It seems like words

just aren't enough anymore

since you no longer

answer nor return my calls.

True love doesn't run away.

It may not always be clear

(unlike the tears which stain my pillows),

but I've begun to understand

that we're better off without each other.
