Ink Shield

Ink Shield

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Look at me--
I am only one person.
Always an outsider.
Always separated.
Using ink like knives.
My shield against scars,
against the nightmares.
I do not fear a broken heart,
but it's embarrassing & uncomfortable
that you never saw me
the way I saw you...

A painful piece here. The speaker seems to feel rejected, regards writing as a shield, uses ink "like knives." There is definite anger against someone who did not return affection. The only hope seems to be to put this pain in the past; otherwise it will continue to consume.
