Seasonal Madness

Seasonal Madness

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

No alarm today.
Still groggy cause of
noise from the street.
In pajamas on
the sidewalk when
I collect the mail.
I didn't leave enough time
to tell you--
I found the note
you wrote across the
chalkboard on the wall.
Making my insides
feel like cotton candy.
I'll wrap my idea of love
tightly around my finger
cause I don't know
where anything goes.

I love this. I love the newness and awkwardness of the feeling. You express the muddiness of our lives so well. The rush to nowhere important that somehow takes over and pushes out the things we later realize are all important.

I'll wrap my idea of love
tightly around my finger
cause I don't know
where anything goes.

The last sentence is stuck in my mind. I keep coming back to it. Great poem.
