Blank Paper Heart

Blank Paper Heart

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Without you...
my heart is like blank paper,
making it seem acceptable
for the heartless
to scribble all over.

I want the world
to stay silent
as I wish to reside
within our surprise connection.
You left a mark only I could see.

A life without you
would seem like being
lost in a fire, scorching
by your every word
which didn't mean a thing.

With a violent fear
of failure, I would forget
to follow your soul...
the only thing that etched
a prize-winning novel
upon my blank paper heart.

Pretty nice and heartfelt - nicely put, though. Your emotions and its poor heartaches be well captured unto the sheet of papers - the parchment of feelings, undisguised. Looking forward to reading your work.

I liked the honest words and thoughts in the poetry. Some people and some things are needed for us to create. Thank you Emily for sharing the amazing poetry.

I love the concept of this poem. Changing for those that are undeserving is futile at best, and when they try and force it, its such a s**t show. I kind of hit on this same thought process in a flash fiction piece I posted on here called Always. I am a firm believer that people are who they are, if we try and paint them as anything else we are doing both parties a great disservice. But, it happens. Great writing!!

I love it! I identify with some of your wording Emily. Thank you for putting into words those feelings, in me, that I can never articulate in my own story, my own heart.

Throughout life, that blank piece of paper will always add whatever we hear. Our destinies rely on the parts we believe. And some of the marks others may find insignificant to others is a big deal to us.

"Without you...
my heart is like blank paper,
making it seem acceptable
for the heartless
to scribble all over."- I love the imagery of people scribbling on blank paper hearts. This poem did leave me wondering if you are with or without them--hopefully the former and not the latter. You can really feel the fear and tension in this one... Beautiful.

Very nice thoughts and emotions in these words..

A very intriguing poetical interpretation; from the point of view of a shy, reticent individual’s perspective of a relationship.
Structurally sound and solid write!

I really like this piece, the agony of letting people push you around but being too nice to tell them to stop, sometimes you just have to put your foot down! Nicely written
