Barbaric Hearts

Barbaric Hearts

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

We caged our hearts
within barbed wire,
hoping the world would
forget about us.
We held a love
so barbaric...
no choice but to
destroy one another.
Little did we know,
the world never forgot.
Funny how some things
are always found out.

So often we hope that if we just hide away and mind our business, troubles will pass us by.
Let's just stay in our own little garden, take care of one another and try to shrugg reality off.

It's never this easy.
And reality always finds a way, it always finds us.
Thank you for the poem Svet, it was wonderful.
