Through My OrbitsA Poem by Elyse8Francesca
As I awaken blind for the first, Valium and a white cane were already set aside
I choked on the pill with the blinder on my mind, as the dark crusts expanded in the cornea of my eye. "What a shame, to see a beautiful girl like you, cry out the blue, bleed out the red, and forget the yellow. This puddle...should serve as a reminder for fools like you," they said. The sun is unseen by me, but its heat is absorbed deeply. With a heightened tactile, I attempt to face its light, having its rays face me, anticipating a burn with streams that melt through my orbit and exit through the back of my skull "What a shame, to see a beautiful girl like you, forget a mothers love, denote a brothers influence, and disobey a fathers' guidance. This broken home...should serve as a reminder for fools like you," they said. As I wander aimlessly through the night, I forget the shadow that was once by my side, looks of distain for which I cannot hide, as the dark crusts expanded in the cornea of my eye. "What a shame, to see a beautiful girl like you, deflowered by a weeder, crippled by a stranger, and welcomed poison from a kiss. These scars...should serve as a reminder for fools like you," they said. A window creeped open, its cool breeze felt by me. I inhale the frosted scent of midnight, having its darkness face me. I am reminded that there is no color without light. Its absence is pulled through my orbits, and out the back of my skull.
