Chapter 6

~Brian’s POV~

I gasped watching Zack fall. I tried to grab him but wasn’t fast enough. We all heard the whack as his head hit the pavement. We knelt around him asking if he was ok but he didn’t answer us. I was frantic. He held his hand. “Baby! Please talk to me!” His eyes started to flutter shut then he went limp. Jimmy ran off. I didn’t pay attention to where. I just held Zack’s hand crying. “ZACK!”

I tried to talk to him but he wasn’t moving. “Boys Move outta the way.” I recognized the voice of the school nurse Mr. Asner. I held Zack’s hand as the others moved. “Brian he’ll be ok. You gotta stand by your friend.” I whimpered but did as told. He kept Zack still as 911 was called. An ambulance soon came and took Zack off and me with him.

A few hours later I sit with Zack in his hospital room. He has yet to wake. His mom is here. She’s in the bathroom at the moment. I sighed nervously wondering what would happen to Zack. Would he wake? Are he and the babies ok? So far doctors have told us nothing. It’s just a worry fest. He hasn’t moved but he is breathing. He has these things attached to his belly to track the babies heart rates. They are doing good so far. We just worry about everything constantly.

I sighed as his mom came in. “Any news?” She asked and I shook my head. “Damn…” She sat in the chair by his bed and gently took his hand. “My poor baby boy…” She sighed. “What exactly happened at the school when he passed out?”

“We were sitting outside having lunch like we always do. Then this football comes outta nowhere and hits his shoulder. He fell back… We tried to grab him before he fell but didn’t. He fell off the back of the bench and onto the pavement… He fell hard. We heard his head hit the ground… He was moving his head back and forth… We tried to talk to him but he wouldn’t answer us…” I sighed and wiped tears from my eyes. “Then he shut his eyes... He didn’t do anything anymore. Jimmy ran and got Mr. Asner. Here we are now.” 

She nodded. “Poor boy... I just hope he wakes soon...” I nodded. “And Brian?” I looked over. “I’m glad you’re being so nice to him. I know you two had that spat about him cheating and I am glad you two got over it. He really loves you. Without you he’s pretty much a zombie. Jimmy had to force him to do anything.” 

I nodded. “I am sorry I put him through that. He’s my everything... One day I want to get a tattoo. Gonna put Zacky Vengeance over my heart. That way he’s always with me.” She nodded with a smile. “Your son means the world to me.” 

She nodded. “Be glad he feels the same for you.” I nodded and kissed his hand. 

“Wake up Zacky. Please...” I sighed. I was in anguish... 

Days went by and still he didn’t wake. The doctors are concerned, he should have woken by now. At all times one of us is at his side for when he does wake. And I hope it’s before he delivers. Not after. I sighed looking at his face. He looked like an angel. I sat in my chair and put my head on the edge of his bed. Tear ran down my face and I lost it crying right there.

~Zack’s POV~

I stretched a tiny bit and felt a twinge in my back. I opened my eyes and was blinded for a second and just blinked furiously til my eyes adjusted. They watered the whole time. I did an inventory of my body to see what else hurt or wasn’t movable. But everything passed inspection. I then noticed someone crying. I looked right and saw nothing but a wall. I looked left and saw a mop of messy black hair. I touched the head of it’s owner and heard a gasp. 

I pulled my hand away and the hair lifted up. I smiled seeing Brian’s eyes looking back at me. “Hey babe.” I smiled. “What’s wrong?” 

He gasped again and lunged hugging me. He was laughing and crying at the same time. “You’re alright! Thank the heavens!” He looked at me. “Never scare me again!” 

“What are you talking about? And why am I in a hospital. I only whacked my head. No need for alarm.” I sat up with his help and winced. “Ouch. Back...” 

He was agast. “Babe... You falling was 10 days ago. We rushes you here after you passed out at school. A twin pregnancy is high risk as it is so you were brought here to make sure you and the twins are safe. Luckily you are.” He ran his hand through his hair messing it up more. “You have a bone deep bruise on your back from the fall. There was fear of concussion...” 

I nodded and rubbed my stomach. “Well I am fine so stop worrying.” I noticed he still wore the empathy belly. “You are actually sticking to what you promised with that huh?” He nodded. “That is what I call devotion.” 

“It’s nothing when I’m devoted to you Zack. You are my everything.” I blushed. “It’s true.” 

I smiled. “Thank you Bri. Really.” I pulled him close and kissed him. I looked up as the door opened revealing Jimmy reading his nook. “Alright Haner. You’re relieved of Baker nap duty. Go home, shower and take a nap. That is an order.” He still didn’t look up. I looked at Bri who was laughing. “What?” Still he didn’t look up and I joined the laughter. “What?!” He looked up finally and gasped. “Since when!?” He hugged me and smiled. “You little s**t! Never do that! Never again!” 

I laughed hugging him. “Hi Jammy.” I smiled. “So you were here to watch me yet you’re reading an EBook? So classy.” I punched him gently. “And such a dork.”
