Hard Times in the USA

By Elton Camp

The desperately poor were once out of sight

So most of us weren’t faced with their plight

But some years ago, disaster started to begin

When the economy went into a bad tailspin

So that people who never expected to be poor

How they would ever survive, became unsure

Employment was lost and more couldn’t find

Millions of folks have got in a terrible bind

Even the moneyed who on interest depended

Commenced to see their principal expended

Those living in areas which were upscale

Saw their housing investment begin to fail

Some with pensions and insurance secure

All of a sudden found they weren’t sure

Recessions in the past saw thing rebound

This time, the economy isn’t turning around

In drastic cut-backs, we see more increase

It’ll get worse unless the recession will cease

Very true. And I don't see the recession ending anytime soon.
