To All Those Grim Poets

To All Those Grim Poets

By Elton Camp

On every publishing wesite I go,

I’m finding largely an ocean of woe

I loved, but then I wasn’t loved back

Proper childhood upbringing I did lack

Even though there wasn’t a reason why

My spouse has left me high and dry

Because my miserable life I much hate

My greatest pleasure is to self-mutilate

The one I loved just laid down & died

And since then, all I have done is cried

But the ones that really scare me most

Are those that of intended suicide boast

To answer that, I am unwilling even to try

And so to that sort I never attempt to reply

There is always the chance, I fearfully think

What I say would push them over the brink

But a general comment I here will make

Destroying yourself is usually a mistake

For who knows what the next day will bring

From an unexpected source good may spring
