Some Folks Mature But Others Just Get Old

By Elton Camp

Many old people will mellow a lot

Not as quick with anger to get hot

And offence is not as quickly taken

Know others often are only mistaken

What matters most they come to see

From hurtful words they try to flee

But others only give in more to rage

Get more hateful with passing age

Relatives they delight to order around

On their face you always see a frown

What you do is viewed with suspicion

By one with a cranky, crabby disposition

“It’s just because they are old,” some say

But when young they were the same way

To treat them well, we certainly should try

But they make it hard to do without a sigh
