The Distracted DriverA Poem by Elton CampSue had a sudden change of diet.The Distracted Driver By Elton Camp Behind the wheel, Sue won’t use her cell phone But she eats while driving anytime she is gone She grasps a king-sized burger in her right hand With the left, take a slurp of her drink so grand Without a third hand to use to drive the car So then down the road she didn’t go very far For just when she turned to take another bite She careened off an embankment on the right The car plunged so fast it went out of control It flipped en-to-end and then began to roll And just as it slammed headlong into a tree The folly of eating while driving Sue did see And on that tragic day, the gods she meets Now ambrosia is the only food that she eats © 2011 Elton Camp |
