When eating out, beware.

The Special of the House

By Elton Camp

Depending on the restaurant’s name

Some dishes seem a dubious claim

Take as an example the Vegan Café

“Order hamburger cooked your way”

Or one called China’s Finest Cuisine

Claiming, “Our taco’s the best seen”

The McDonald’s you’d surely pass

If it offers “pheasant under glass”

I wouldn’t consider even in the least

The local steakhouse’s “seafood feast”

The Thai place I would greatly fear

That says, “Come for French fries here”

Then think about the Captain D’s

“Our spaghetti is sure to please”

What about the local Chik-Fillet

“Come and buy some beef today”

The sign at Chico’s Mexican Café

“Best pizza in town.”  No way!

So when you decide you’ll eat out

Of such claims, have serious doubt
