Playing Into the Hands of the Grim Reaper

By Elton Camp

If it is the Grim Reaper who you’d like to meet

Get distracted while you’re in the driver’s seat

Normal driving is plenty dangerous enough

Without adding to it any needless other stuff

Just simply fiddling around with the car’s radio

A lack of proper to one’s driving does show

Driving down the road eating and drinking

Shows about wrong things one is thinking

Tending to a child is unreasonably risky too

Over on the shoulder is the place this to do

Turning to talk to folks in the back seat

Is another way that disaster we can meet

But doing texting is the dangerous one of all

Far worse than just receiving a cell phone call

For those who do it, there’s no need to mention

It requires an extraordinary amount of attention

For if we keep our eyes off the road for that along

We may well find that we’re singing our swan song
