Fire Will Come Down From Heaven

By Elton Camp

The preacher had been irritated of late

Not enough came on the collection plate

So the Rev came up with a tricky scheme

Told the congregation of his scary dream

“The Lord said unless there’s more today

Then with lightning he is going to slay.”

The Rev was about say it would hit him,

But the outside darkened & looked grim

He hadn’t figured on a development like that

And wondered if God cared he was a lying rat

Big bolts of lightning flashed to the ground

At that, the Rev began to gulp and frown

“See old Miss Benchly sitting over there?

God said he’d kill her unless show you care.”
