Students Older Than Average

Once it was only when young to college you go

But times have changed and it’s no longer so

 

Many older folks still have a whole lot on the ball

And at the university door more and more now call

 

At my college, I’ve had many students older than me

And outstanding performance is what I usually see

 

I’d rather have a serious grandmother in my class

Than many a beautiful but too flighty young lass

 

Old people realize that for them as well it’s the key

Need for education & credentials they’ve come to see

 

The human brain is stimulated and improved by use

So to look down on the older ones there’s no excuse

 

So if grandfather decides to come get his degree

There may be few who perform any better than he

 

If in your class you see that there’s an older one there

Get acquainted with her, for she may have much to share
