Creepy-Crawlies in the Dark

By Elton Camp

Some never outgrow a childhood fear of night

That out of the darkness will come some fright

So, each night, as soon as darkness closes in

Then imaginary attacks on them will begin

“I can hear their horrible, scratching sound

So I know for certain that they are around.”

“It has always been my greatest dread & fear

That to me crawling insects will come near.”

“I can sense them when they crawl onto my bed

And know the horrors will soon attack my head.”

“A flashlight I keep under the covers with me

If they come around, light will make them flee.”

“My psychiatrist says such ideas I need to avoid

For they are untrue and I have become paranoid.”

“But I now know the doctor is in on the scheme

For I saw him bring bugs to me in my dream.”
