A Prize Would Be Greatly Appreciated

By Elton Camp

Publisher’s Clearinghouse I’m sure is legit

Although never a prize from them do I get

I’ve been sending entries for many a year

But that I’ll never win I have come to fear

Their, “An order we would greatly appreciate”

Is a marketing ploy that I certainly do hate

They practically promise me a million in cash

But the fine print my hopes completely dash

The odds against winning anything are small

Don’t expect that at your door they will call

But I continue regularly to send entries in

For if I don’t I most certainly won’t win

That it would change my life is surely true

If I should happen to win a million or two

So their offerings I will continue to read

But refuse to order anything I don’t need

Oh wait, I hear a car coming up my drive

Could it be that PCH did finally arrive?
