A Meeting in the Conference Room

By Elton Camp

The supervisor seems to know just one main way

That he can justify his position and outrageous pay

That is by a required meeting where he’ll preside

Employees moaning and groaning is hard to hide

Nobody wants to hear from the self-important jerk

As he attempts to tell them how to do their work

He thinks that he knows what is the very best way

And the ones who do the tasks have nothing to say

It is a voice of authority that he will try to assume

Just as soon as he strides into the meeting room

With the sound of his own voice he seems fascinated

While his foolish instructions are repeatedly related

What he will say could be done in five minutes or less

But the meeting will last at least an hour, nevertheless

Then he complains when office work gets behind

That he wasted so much time none should remind

The office would be better off if he would disappear

But that he will soon demand an assistant, never fear
