He Was the Man of Her Dreams

In finding a mate, Marilyn wasn’t doing well

Whether a man was suitable, she couldn’t tell

 

For she was far too quick to become infatuated

With almost any sort of man whom she dated

 

Marilyn was beautiful, but that wasn’t enough

As a wife, men wanted one made of better stuff

 

But instead of trying to learn and improve herself

She was convinced that of a mate she’d be bereft

 

So it was in an online dating service she enrolled

And she found a man whose virtues she extolled

 

No matter that he was words & face on a screen

One to whom she had never talked or even seen

 

That all of it was only a pretense it didn’t occur

Marilyn fell in love as he was the man for her

 

She learned, in finances, he was in a dire strait

So she sent him money without having a date

 

In a few months, when her funds were all gone

The man disappeared and Marilyn was all alone
