Adages That Are Wrong

Adages That Are Wrong

A Poem by Elton Camp
"

Some old sayings are much mistaken.

"

Adages that are Wrong

By Elton Camp

If you believe that “Slow and steady wins the race,”

Try putting that into practice and you’ll face disgrace

People will laugh when you have to come in last

For the faster and more daring all will have passed

“Practice makes perfect” is most certainly a mistake

Without input, the very same errors you will make

Think that “Absence makes the heart grow fonder?”

Where your loved one went you will soon wonder.

Is “A watched pot never boils” something that’s true?

Then put one on a hot eye, watch, and see what it’ll do

Somebody else should write about sayings not right

Publish it and make a few peoples’ day more bright
