There's Little Doubt of the OutcomeA Poem by Elton CampDealing with the IRSThere’s Little Doubt of the Outcome By Elton Camp When fighting one more powerful than you To succeed there is practically nothing to do Very soon you’ll be lying flat of your face Beaten, bruised and in complete disgrace And that’s the way it is with our Uncle Sam When his rules & regulations he wants to ram An agency that delights to tell us what to do Is called the Department of Internal Revenue With what it says, we are required to comply Resistance is futile, so there’s no need to try On your return you make some innocent mistake Then they can threaten a complete audit to take They seem to think we should so plainly see The need for Schedules they call X, Y and Z If it’s possible to put things in a complex way Then that exactly what the IRS is going to say Unless we pay our income tax before it is due Next year, every quarter it will come from you “We see that of taxes you didn’t pay enough. That your income increased is just too tough.” Most citizens don’t mind paying their share But it would be easier with tax laws more fair That fat cats who are rolling in so much dough May get by with little, makes us feel it isn’t so
