The School Bullies

By Elton Camp

When I was a child, we had a few of these

Tough, strong boys who did as they please

“You nerd, give your lunch money to me.

Refuse and you know what the result will be.”

Any resistance was likely to bring a black eye,

It usually was wiser to give in and not even try.

The bully was a coward and inwardly insecure

Really serious harm, nobody actually need fear

School bullies today are of a far different sort

They work in groups and to other tactics resort

By the hurtful things that they now have to say

They will take the victim’s self-respect all away

They continue to ridicule and the person to deride

So much that some of them have committed suicide

To basic human decency they’ve become betrayers

And, in actual fact, have transformed into manslayers
