Buying from the Purse GuyA Poem by Elton CampAs always, let the buyer beware.Buying From the Purse Guy By Elton Camp Near our home there’s a shabby store That we heard had such bargains galore So we thought it fun if we give a try To a place that’s named “Purse Guy” Hundreds of purses hung on the back wall With surprise, my wife their names did call Fendi, Coach, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior The place carried these plus several more At the prices she smiled with great delight “At the mall, costs of these are out of sight. I can hardly believe such a reasonable price For a purse that’s a designer and so very nice.” With several handbags we walked out the door And told the smiling man we’d be back for more The very next week, the store a padlock did get It seems everything it sold was only counterfeit Within weeks, the purse bargains of our dreams Looked bad and began to break apart at the seams One out of twenty items found in world trade Are only knockoffs and extremely cheaply made Buying fake goods we had learned not to do It costs manufacturers billions in lost revenue Found a brand name with a price not to believe? Most likely, some criminals are trying to deceive
