The Double Beef WhoppersA Poem by Elton CampIt was the largest single order of the day.The Double Beef Whoppers By Elton Camp To most people, I pay but little attention But a man last week I want to mention I was eating in the local fast-food place That was where I first saw the guy’s face The young man who walked in the door Wasn’t anybody I’d seen there before The look of his face I no longer recall Rather, it was his size that did appall To speak bad of another, so rude sounds But the man weighed six hundred pounds I hear of double chins, but his were triple All over his body, rolls of fat did ripple His upper arms were as big as my thighs I had never seen any even near that size Though you may doubt it, it’s no bunk Each of his legs were as big as my trunk Counter girl asked his order for today “Fifty double beef whoppers right away.” The server asked him just one thing more So that she would know what to look for At the thing that the counter girl then said The fat man grinned and nodded his head “I’m afraid didn’t hear you say, my dear. “Is that to go, or will you eat them here?”
