Could the preacher be wrong?

The Sunday Sermon

By Elton Camp

The preacher told the sin of Adam and Eve

And he was dead-set against it, I believe

I saw the words, “To dust thou shalt return.

But the reverend said they’ll actually burn

But why wasn’t the warning made more clear

That would happen if the fruit they came near?

God said disobey and their own deaths would be

The preacher said that torture the two would see

Change the punishment that much after the fact?

A sense of fairness and justice that seems to lack

As the congregation was singing the final song

I was thinking, “Could the preacher be wrong?”
