A Notice from Social Security

A Notice from Social Security

Uncle Sam has his say.

A Notice from Social Security

By Elton Camp

“Dear Sir,” the government form read.

“We have recently been told you are dead.

At such time as you into death did drop,

You should notify us your check to stop.”

Since you have failed to let us know,

You must pay back months of dough.

If you fail with this rule to comply,

In prison you will then come to lie.

Fraud against your Uncle Sam

Is a particularly serious scam.

But know that we’re here to serve.

From our mission, we won’t swerve.

If, perchance, this report’s a mistake,

There are some steps you must take.

Just submit proof you still breathe,

In anger there’s no need to seethe.

We’ll decide if the proof is enough.

We’re deluged with fraudulent stuff.

Then we say, “Oh, what the heck.”

And hit a key that says “Resurrect.”
