My Dog is Lost

By Elton Camp

In the newspaper’s Lost and Found:

Seeking dog all black and brown.

Peaches is now gone astray.

Haven’t seen since Monday.

Our pet is either lost or stolen.

For your help we’ll be beholden.

Was last seen on South Oak Street.

Peaches return would be very neat.

His tail has had an amputation.

He must have his medication.

A pit bull he may be,

But easy-going is he.

Not so many has he bitten.

Usually gentle as a kitten.

Neighbor’s lies you should ignore.

They belonged inside their door.

To walk in their yards, they had no right

And should have expected Peaches to bite.

Why couldn’t they just smile

Instead of making threats so vile?

If you find our pet today,

A reward we’ll gladly pay.

There will not be any question

If he’s returned to our possession.
