Welcome to El Gordo's BuffetA Poem by Elton CampEating at the super duper king-size buffet.Welcome to El Gordo’s Buffet By Elton Camp When I open the door to come inside, I see the place in volume takes pride. Everywhere I look is a steam table. To try it all I certainly am not able. Two dozen choices of meat. It is a deal that is hard to beat. Of all the feast that I do see, I mean to take two or three. Chicken prepared several ways. One of them I’m sure to praise. The fish they either fry or bake. So some of both types I take. Dishes of both pork and beef To my diet come do cause grief. Despite its fat and cholesterol, I decide to try a bit of nearly all. Unless I eat some of the seafood, It might appear I am being rude. I must get at least a little dab Of both the shrimp and crab. There are vegetables by the score. My dish hardly has room for more. Several I just have to try. So pile my plate up high. The dessert bar just looks so fine. On both pie and cake I will dine. And if greedy it won’t seem, Will come back for ice cream. Somehow it seems rather nice. All you can eat at one low price. You may take a lot or just a taste But we ask, “Please don’t waste.” If on your plate you leave it there, The waiter gives an accusing stare. “Our delicious food is quite a treat. Why take more than you can eat?” Although he won’t say it to me. On his face, disapproval I see. Thus, as not to appall I make sure to eat it all. I decide to come there no more, But, too soon, I come in the door. Ready to take even more Than what I did before.
