The Hottest I Can Remember:

The Summer of 2010

By Elton Camp

Weather’s a good topic to discuss

Or like this summer mainly to fuss.

I don’t know what it’s been like where you stay

In the South, it’s been blazing for many a day.

Our daytime highs have been a disgrace

Open the door and heat slaps your face.

Even in the garage, the steering wheel is hot to the touch

After time in a store parking lot, to handle it is too much

With the air conditioner turned to max,

It takes several miles before I can relax.

Afternoon highs over a hundred degrees

Such extremes would anyone displease.

Not much relief is anywhere in sight.

It’s still muggy and hot, even at night.

But given time it will pass us on by

Then about cold we’ll begin to sigh.
