It Came From Behind the Mirror

By Elton Camp

A full-length mirror’s a scary thing

Into a house, such horror it may bring

Into another world it’s a door

Populated by monsters galore

Of that, I haven’t the slightest doubt

Behind the glass they’re looking out

Ghastly face pressed against the glass

It’s leering at you anytime you pass

Just waiting a chance to break through

Such unspeakably vile deeds then to do

Folks think they’ve got naught to fear

The fiends disappear when they’re near

They’re waiting there just the same

Beneath the mirror, inside the frame

And again, I'm laughing, Mr. Camp. My mother had a saying: "If you weren't so mean, ya wouldn't be so scared". Many don't get it, but it simply means if your conscience is clear, you have nothing to fear. Mirrors have scare't the snot outta me more than once. They still do, sometimes, but for an entirely different reason.
