HereafterA Poem by Eloquence
Confused minds caused by uncertainty.
Did I do something wrong? From one thing to another From beginning to end From together to never You are my friend That shan't change But I am not yours Not any more We grew and parted ways I guess that's all part of growing up Maybe it's part of our fate line That we weren't meant to carry on Maybe we grew apart for a reason That reason allowing us to explore different things But the fight in me is unnerving But that's just who I am Though my battle is lost by the simmering connection The line is now dead Killing the communication with a bitter ending I guess that's ok though You do you And I will do me And maybe one day We can catch up with memories to share With a cup of coffee at our then favourite cafe Maybe we will have children Sitting on our knees asking who we are And we'll look at each other And smile And say "we're old friends" And the dead line can reignite And it won't be goodbye But a hello Welcome to the now But maybe we will cross paths Without any recognition And carry on with life Our friendship a stained memory etched far down deep in our hearts Unlikely to resurface Only for memories When we think back in laughter Recalling the silly things we did when we were teenagers We may never reconcile But memories are the strongest bond And we will meet new people People we call best-friends And learn from mistakes Adding to experiences Adding to a chain of people we meet So what I have to say Is that no matter where life takes us I'll look back Reminiscing With a crafted smile And only with a smile And think of only the good Forgetting the hurt Forgetting the neglect And forgetting the bad Have a fulfilling life my friend And maybe one day We will meet again Stored with memories bursting to be shared And laugh © 2015 Eloquence |
