The most wonderful night

The most wonderful night

A Poem by EloisaWrites
"

This is what I imagined a night would be when I get old with the one I love

"
Serene and silent
one ice-cold night warmed by
cotton-fabric sheets.

Our sweater brushes,
our socks pulled over,
up and bound the knees.

You make one hard cough,
I reach and rub your back.
You stop with a smile.

I, then, rest a kiss
in the smile of your dry lips
and fall back to sleep.

Silent and serene.
All the nightbirds are singing
until another morning.

The deep and enduring love in this is heartwarming, Eloisa! When a couple has been together through the years, a soft kiss on dry lips or a caring hand rubbing a back keeps a partner going through the tough times. Intense love and compassion in this write. Absolutely wonderful. Lydi**

Adorable, absolutely. I saw the scene clearly before me, as if it was simply a memory of mine. So beautiful.

That was such a beautiful piece! You set the scene to be so sweet and soft and it was so heartwarming, as Lydia said. I felt like reading it over and over again because it was so comforting! Great Writing!
