Just about to turn sixteenA Poem by ElleThis poem is in memory of my cousin, who lived a beautiful life and inspired everyone is came in contact with. I miss you everyday babe.
She was only one when it happened,
Ribbons, balloons, cakes, presents, food music, dancing, pictures, smiles Celebration of existence The beginning of the rest of her life. She was only three when it happened, School for the first time Looking absolutely adorable in her little uniform. School bag on her back, lunch-box in her hand. Lots of ribbons in her hair. Crying. Crying loudly. Holding on to mommy, Not ever wanting to let go. She was only six when it happened, lost a tooth, scraped her knee while learning to ride a bike. Plunged in the pool for the first time. Gazed at stars in the sky. Learnt to jump rope like a pro. Excelled at everything she put her mind to. She was only ten when it happened, Learnt to play the piano. The big "1 0" . A milstone. Her newly found love of drawing, Her first puppy, his name was snowflake She always took him for walks. She was only fifteen when it happened, New school, new friends. That boy who looked so damn cute. A more confident walk, Puberty did her good. Bubbles in her laugh, Twinkles in her eyes. She was ready for life. I said she was only fifteen when it happened, that plane that took off, ears popped, the food was off, but the view was definitely incredible. That plane that landed, but didn't stop. Then all she could see was fire and smoke, and the bright, blinding light when she closed her eyes. Yes, she was only fifteen, but the saddest part was, and still is... She was just about to turn sixteen. © 2015 Elle |
