Two Countries

Two Countries

A Poem by Eloha

I have two countries: stability and freedom

Or are both one? No sooner does the sun

Remind me why I was born

With long veils and holding a carnation

Bloodstained in this capitalism

This trembling corporate plutocracy

That to find freedom must I revert

To anarchy, become an activist

Light is a hindrance in this corrupt world

I have two countries: hope and cynicism

Or are both one? I feel a closeness

With the youth, people about to die

They remind me why I was born

When the new order is simple the old order

With a new form, I become troubled

The flowers crushed by the same patriarchy

There is so much control, that we don't even see.

Light and dark, soft and hard, hope and cynicism...I think that we cannot have one without the other when it comes to most things. As humans, I think one of our mortal veils is the ability (and sometimes disability) to have juxtaposing thoughts and even morals. Well written...deeply honest.
