Shadow of My Heart

Shadow of My Heart

A Poem by Elmira Ghanaatpisheh (Mina)

Go now, find where you belong,

This ache has stretched too far, too long.
Let me drift in dreams of you,

While you stay with this lonely tune.
I wonder how this could be done?

What if I could make us one?
Don’t let me forget this pain,

For in my heart, love will remain.
Today, the rain kissed earth and skies,

Clouds above met my tearful eyes.
I’d give my life to understand why

You broke promises, while I believed every lie.
Yet still, I love you, though we’re apart,

For you were the shadow of my heart.
All beauty, all good, I saw in you
A fleeting glimpse of what felt true.
