THE DAY YOU LEFT

THE DAY YOU LEFT

A Poem by Elmarie
"

For the Brave

"

The day you left

You gave me only truthful words

It warmed my yearning heart

Keeping me safely in love

I never questioned its truth

You gave me your beautiful body

I held it so close to mine

Always a divine embrace

I never questioned your touch

You gave me your valuable time

I shared it eagerly with you

Those precious moments together

I never questioned its value

You gave me your priceless life

When you bravely saved mine

Reliving the time you went away

Now I constantly question that day

This is truly innocent and heartfelt in its its nature... Tell moments we spend with our loved ones will always stay in our hearts... Their love and care and precious moments will never ever fade away from our mind... This is truly a thought provoking emotional write El which I can very much relate to... Very well done...

Sincerely
Dhiman

So touching and so relevant to me at the moment. It so hard to to relive when someone who touches our lives leaves. Great work. N.

Oh, how many times have I done this exact thing? Going thru an entire relationship, be it family, friends, or lovers, always seeing the best in the person, the best in the situation, but then being totally blindsided by the end which comes as a harsh slap of reality. You've conveyed the innocence & trusting nature of the narrator in spades (very clearly). You've also nailed that sensation we end up with, questioning how we didn't see that coming, reliving the harsh breakup in our minds like self-torture.

When happy sometimes we are too blinded by it to question intentions, or if anything else could be going on. You have managed to portray the pain beautifully, rather than attacking the past with anger, which I admire. I really enjoyed this :)

A sad poem of cherished times gone by, only to turn leaving one questioning on why with a tinge of regret and sorrow. Terrible mind racking moments when one is left wondering.
