The Thrill You BringA Poem by EllyThis poem delves into the tension between desire and detachment, reflecting the conflict of craving connection while fearing attachment."I like you a lot," a lie I won’t tell, For your fragile heart, I know it too well. So gentle, so pure, yet I crave your gaze, Lurking in shadows, lost in this haze. Like a phantom, I linger, watching you close, Craving your essence, the thing I want most. Your heart’s not my first, nor will it be my last, For every connection fades into the past. When feelings grow heavy, I turn away, When the thrill is gone, I let it decay. I don’t need a lover to anchor my night, Just someone to answer, to spark, to ignite. I don’t like you"it’s the truth I conceal, Yet I want you; it’s a hunger I feel. You’re tender, no threat, like a lamb so still, Yet your quiet allure bends me to your will. You spark a fire that I cannot douse, A raging tempest storming my house. No chains to bind me, yet I’m caught in your air, So simple, so plain, yet nothing compares. You awaken a force I try to contain, A wild desire coursing my veins. I’ll shield you from harm; my will stays intact, But this restless yearning keeps pulling me back. You kill me so softly, yet still, I remain, A slave to the longing, the pleasure, the pain. Perhaps it’s not you, but the dream that you give, A fleeting mirage, the reason I live. But I won’t let you break me; I’ll rise in the end, For I’m no beast"just a girl who needs a friend. 23rd/11/2024 © 2024 EllyAuthor's Note
