Beyond The Shoreline

Beyond The Shoreline

A Poem by Dave Ellis
"

Just an impression of a scene from a trip out in deepest Devon

"
Beyond the youthful estuarine gape,
Daughter of the misty combes,
Like whales that crash through surface foam,
Sentinel line of mountains loom.

They glower, mixing with the clouds
In an ever changing interface
Of surging shadows interfused,
Colliding in a tidal chase.

Beyond the peaks that guard the sands,
Moorland shoulders flex and strain,
Every sense alert to leap,
To smother human, concrete plains.
